Sheldon Reservoir

We met up with Jeff and Dee Ann right at the entrance of the Sheldon Reservoir. The lilies were abundant. The day was cool and pleasant. Couldn't have asked for anything better!! What a great backgound for the Young Little Blue Heron!
And then again, but these are the ducks

Look at the beautiful color!!

And here are some young biologists! They sure seemed prepared!
Look who was there to greet us!!! Carlos couldn't get any closer, could he?

The water lilies were gorgeous!!

We decided to have our picnic before walking any more around the center.

What a great looking Great Egret! It looks so magestic with its long nexk and stature!

And here are two whistling ducks wading on the pool!
An another whistling duck looking like a statue on top of that roof. We had to do a double take to make sure it was a real bird!
Carlos And Dee Ann resting at the end of the road! It was getting warm by mid afternoon, but the walk was still pleasant!

Trip to Austin

We arrived at UT around 11 am. Pablo was waiting for us and took us to the UT towers building where they give two daily tours of the campus. Here is our "tour guide."

A group picture of the students and even some future students who joined us that day!

A view of the UT tower. It gets illuminated each time there is something special! The pool looks more like one you would find at a resort. When Pablo first started UT, he used to live in the dorm on the background of this picture, Moore Hall. We went on a walking tour of UT!
Sharon leading the troops!

A view of the Museum of TEXAS History

Group picture of all students who went on the field trip to Austin, TX
Inside the Capitol - Carolyn and Macarena (and somebody else we don't know
Rebecca and Carolyn. You can tell they were having fun!!

Pablo copming to join us for dinner!!

Augusta pictures- April 08

Here are some pictures that Casey took at her parents' home right on the Savannah River. It looks like Felipe is trying to remember his childhood or maybe he lost something up there!!
Ethan, Avery, Diego and "the dog"!
It sure looks like they are all ready for Spring!! Ya llego la primavera a Augusta!

Beautiful Brazos Park - Jan, 20, 2008

We were supposed to meet our good friends Jeff and Dee Ann for a "birding day" and we thought we were supposed to go to Brazos State Park. They are the experts who share with us this wonderful hobby and invite us to tag along every once in a while. On that cool, winter morning, we packed our picnic lunch and headed South on 59 till we arrived at the designated place. We waited and waited but we couldn't find them. After an hour or so, we decided that they were not coming and just started walking around, enjoying the gorgeous views as well at observing some of the big birds that were around. We happened to stumble into another avid bird watcher who gave us some of the names of the birds (which we managed to forget), so we will share a couple of pictures instead of the names. We found out later that we were in the wrong place. We were supposed to go to another park and our friends were waiting for us in another spot.

This is a little blue heron which we saw from a viewpoint that overlooks the park so he didn't see we were observing him!!

Another view of the same blue heronHere's another view from the viewpoint. Just watch Carlos! He was cooold!!!

Gorgeous bird, a Snowy Egret! It was right on the side of the side of the road and just basically ignored us!

What a beautiful winter day! The sky was so clear and the clouds just beautiful!
